An experimental aviation enthusiast, David completed his first airplane, a plans-built KR-2S derivative, nicknamed “Goliath”, in 2007.  He has over 225 hours in this aircraft above 15 states and more than 550 hours of private pilot time distributed between Cessnas, Pipers, and various experimental aircraft.  He holds a private pilot’s license (Aircraft Single Engine Land) with an instrument rating.

In the Navy, David started as an enlisted avionics technician.  Later, he earned a commission and wore the wings of Naval Flight Officer.  He amassed almost 3,000 hours, 575 carrier landings, and logged flight time in 17 different platforms. The majority of his military flying was in the EA-6B, F/A-18, and F-16.
